Ynys, near Criccieth, is nestled in the far north west of Wales and is home to Mary Williams, who has lived in the area for her whole life. Along with her husband and son, she runs a dairy farm and in recent times, due to the success of the business they have started renting out two farmhouses after purchasing more land whilst expanding the farm.
Despite being based in a rural location, Mary learned about Rent Smart Wales and the change in the law some time ago when she received a letter through the post from the local council, and was able to find a training course in her native Gwynedd. Managing a large dairy herd means the Williams family are often tied up with looking after their stock, however she found the time in her busy schedule and is glad that she chose to attend the course in person.
“I found the information much easier to take in when learning it directly from the trainer. There were quite a few complicated issues to go over and certainly a lot of things to remember, but during the training session we could ask any questions and got the answers straight away”
Despite learning a lot of the new information during the training session, Mary was pleased to know that she had already been doing much of what was covered in the course.
“We were already doing a lot of the things covered on the course, but equally, we also learnt some new information which we’ll now be able to ensure we’re doing in the future”
And when asked if she would recommend the course, Mary replied:
“Oh I think so, yes! It’s quite straight forward really and I would definitely recommend the training as it undoubtedly improves your practices as a landlord.”
